BLS Connect Emergency Reporter
A cross‑platform mobile app that lets users quickly report medical emergencies to first‑responders, streamlining dispatch and improving response times.
BLS Connect is a mobile application designed for civilians to instantly report life‑threatening situations—such as cardiac arrests, severe injuries, or accidents—to nearby first‑responders. Using the device’s GPS, the app pinpoints the user’s location, automatically shares crucial details (type of emergency, patient condition, and optional photos), and notifies the closest certified BLS (Basic Life Support) teams via push notifications and a real‑time backend.
Key features include a one‑tap emergency button, customizable emergency categories, live location tracking, and an integrated map showing responder ETA. The app also offers a built‑in chat for responders to request additional information and a post‑incident feedback loop for users to rate the response. Built with React Native and Expo, BLS Connect runs on both Android and iOS, leveraging Firebase for authentication, real‑time database, and cloud messaging, while the Google Maps API powers accurate geolocation and routing.
By simplifying the reporting process and providing responders with immediate, precise data, BLS Connect aims to reduce response times, increase survival rates, and empower communities to act as the first line of emergency care.
